The changes in this release are as follows:
This release adds the .jpn.com, .web.com, .bj, .ht, and .ky TLD
servers, updates the .kz, .mo, .sb, .sn, .uy, and .uz TLD servers,
adds support for the -afrinic, -idnic, and -uynic NIC handles, checks
the whole hide_strings[] and updates when needed, and adds some
preliminary and non-working support for libxcrypt to mkpasswd.

Project description:
whois supports all protocol extensions (RIPE, 6bone, CRSNIC) with the
familiar RIPE command line interface and IPv6 support. It also
automagically queries the right registry for all domains and most
netblocks.
